Inclusive Health Services: The New Life of the Ganges
The Region of Crete (Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion), in cooperation with the 7th Health District of Crete, implemented a pilot action of cultural mediation — interpretation for migrants/migrants coming from outside the EU, within the framework of the European project INCLUDE EU (AMIF) of the International Organization for Migration Immigration (IOM) & IOM Hellas. As part of the pilot action, information points (info points) were operated in the two hospitals of Heraklion, PAGNI and Venizeleio, which supported mediation—interpretation between migrants/migrant women and medical, nursing and administrative staff to facilitate service and their accessibility to rights and health benefits. They also provided information on how hospital services operate in four languages: Arabic, Kyrgyz, Farsi and Dari. The pilot action was supported by the Educational Development NAVIGATOR and lasted until August 2022. It was funded by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. Here is a related video.
